How to use the bubble letter generator
- Type your text in the input box at the top of the page.
- You will see two preview cards β outline (βΆ) and filled (π ).
- Tap the card you like to copy that style to your clipboard.
- Paste into Instagram, posters, kid worksheets, or anywhere Unicode is supported.
Outline vs filled bubbles
The outline style uses the Enclosed Alphanumerics Unicode block (U+24B6 to U+24E9). It supports both uppercase and lowercase, plus digits 0β9. Outline characters are part of the Basic Multilingual Plane, which means they render correctly on practically every device made in the last decade.
The filled style uses Negative Circled Latin Capital Letter (U+1F150 to U+1F169). These are visually bolder and more eye-catching, but live in the Astral Plane (above U+FFFF). They render fine on iOS, macOS, modern Android, and modern browsers, but a small fraction of older devices show empty boxes.
When to use bubble text
Kids crafts and coloring pages
Increase the font size to 150 pt or more, print, and let kids fill in colors. The outline style is purpose-built for this. For layout ideas and print sizing tips, see our bubble letters for posters guide.
Birthday cards and event posters
Filled bubble letters carry visual weight β perfect for the headline of a party invitation or classroom announcement. Pair with a thinner sans-serif body font for contrast.
Social media headlines
Bubble letters work well as section dividers in long Instagram captions or Twitter threads. Use sparingly β too many bubble headers turn into noise.
Educational worksheets
Teachers use bubble letters to highlight vocabulary words, name labels, and bulletin boards. The outline form is also useful for tracing exercises.
Tips for bubble letters
- Mind the readability ceiling. Bubble letters are eye-catching but slow to read. Use them for short titles, not long paragraphs.
- Outline is more compatible. If you need cross-platform reliability (e.g. an SMS to many recipients), prefer outline.
- Filled looks best at large sizes. Below 14 pt the difference between outline and filled almost disappears. Save filled for headers and headlines.
- Numbers are supported. 0 renders as βͺ in outline and βΏ in filled, with full β΅-β¨ / β-β ranges.
Where bubble letters work
Outline bubble characters (βΆββ) come from the Unicode Enclosed Alphanumerics block and render on every device. Filled bubbles (π βπ ©) use the Astral Plane and need a sufficiently modern system font β check the notes column before relying on them.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a bubble letter generator?
- It converts your text into Unicode characters that look like letters drawn inside circles β βΆ, β·, βΈ for outlines and π π π for solid filled. You can copy and paste them anywhere Unicode text is supported.
- Why do filled bubble letters look like boxes on some Android phones?
- The solid bubble characters live in a higher Unicode range (Astral Plane). Newer phones render them perfectly; some pre-2020 Android builds show boxes. The outline style works on every device β pick that if cross-device support matters.
- Do bubble letters support lowercase?
- Outline bubbles include separate uppercase (βΆ) and lowercase (β) characters. Solid bubbles only exist for uppercase, so lowercase letters fall back to the uppercase version.
- Can I print these for a coloring page?
- Unicode characters render at the system font size. For an A4 coloring sheet, paste into a document, increase the font size to 200pt+, and print. We are also building a vector PDF export specifically for kids crafts (V0.5).
- Is bubble text the same as graffiti bubble letters?
- No. Graffiti bubble letters are hand-drawn shapes with thick outlines and shading. Unicode bubble characters are simpler circle-enclosed letters. For real graffiti style, use the Tattoo Font or upcoming SVG bubble tool.
- How do I make bubble letters larger for printing?
- Copy the outline style, paste into a document or design app (Word, Google Docs, Canva), and increase the font size to 150 pt or more. Unicode characters scale like normal text. For A4 posters, 200 pt gives bold, clear letters suitable for coloring or cutting.
- Can I use bubble letters in an Instagram bio or TikTok caption?
- Yes. Instagram bios and TikTok captions support the full Unicode range. Outline bubbles (βΆ-β) are the safer choice β they render on virtually every device. Save filled bubbles (π -π ©) for captions and stories where you can verify the display on your own device first.
